The Aspire Ring (for younger learners) uses 20 paired descriptions that profile a younger person’s attitude to learning. It invites pupils to select the descriptions that best describe them. The Ring shows their Learning Stances which help pupils make sense of how they feel about themselves and their current intentions. The Aspire Ring is a reflection tool, not an assessment or a test. The Aspire Ring gives immediate feedback to the young person in the form of a personal chart, allowing a structured and focused discussion of their strengths and issues.
It gives four bits of information:
- overall aspiration score from 0 to 100%
- the learner's balance between being fair to self and fair to others e.g. 60% to 40%
- a % score for each of the learning stances
- the learner's specific strengths and issues
You can create a report of a group of learners through ASSEMBLY. See resources for more information.

Creating Your Chart
A dialogue comes up when you have finished, and from there a PDF will be created once you press OK. Make sure there is a name in the name box above as this helps identify your chart from all the others.
Depending on your browser a preview of your chart will be displayed which can be printed. We will also attempt to save a pdf file onto your device. If no preview appears find your pdf (in Downloads) to print your chart.
